Chacala
We think we have found paradise! Shhh..don't tell anyone! This perfect sand beach oasis is just what we set sail for! The palm lined beach dotted with palapa restaurants has a sleepy relaxed atmosphere catering to the local tourists as well as a small group of "ex-pats" who return year after year...the yachtistas (cruisers) fill the small bay with ten boats at present, coming and going...most are from the Baha Ha rally. There are several fancy homes on the rocky cliffs, even a yoga retreat, The Mar de Jade tucked into the rocks...its been here 30 years!
Beautiful sand beach!
The restaurant owners are happy to see us and want to know how to encourage the yachtistas (cruisers) repeat business. Everyone is friendly- we check in to the Port Captain and he thanks us for coming to visit.
Plopped down at a table on the beach, sharing stories and beers, we pass the day away, people watching and just relaxing...the beach vendors parade by selling their wares... and I can't resist...that pretty wooden bowl or piece of pottery!
The Las Brisas palapa restaurant becomes our favorite hang out...
Cheers! Sue and Nancy (Shindig)

The common table...
Today we explore the small town to find the Lavanderia (laundry)...we want someone else to do our laundry :-)...pass the school, well stocked hardware store, Hostel, surf shop, several tiendas (market) and rental homes overlooking the bay..also, there's a beautiful yoga wellness (Mar de Jade) center tucked into the far end of the bay that's been there for 30 years! Soon, we discover this little gem of a resort is a "secret place" for many who return year after year.

Rock cobbled streets
Fresh coconut milk whacked open
Over Margaritas and dinner we plan a scuba diving excursion for the next day...
Shindig, Silouette, Fluenta and Gitane...gather our scuba gear and head out to the point. I was apprehensive as I haven't been schooled in scuba...
Look, ma...no hands!
Snorkeling in Chacala
but, there were several friends who talked me through the procedures and I followed them down into the depths! It wasn't great visibility, but a good beginning dive for me.
OK!

Palapa restaurants on beach
At last it was time to move on...we pried ourselves away after 7 days in one anchorage, we felt it was time to see other places. Off we go to the next bay, 10 miles south, to Jaltemba.
